The Battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of 1919; several incidents are associated with the phrase "the shot heard round the world." However, I believe history will show that they were all insignificant trivia compared to the one just fired by Jared Leto in the direction of Jennifer Lawrence, which could very well mark the beginning of the Great Jennifer Lawrence Backlash of 2014.

Leto was speaking with Access Hollywood, probably about the current situation in Ukraine, when he was asked about Jennifer Lawrence and her seeming inability to stay upright at the Oscars. "You know, I'm starting to wonder if this is an act," he told Billy Bush, who probably responded by dropping his mic to do backflips down Hollywood Boulevard, knowing that as an entertainment journalist, he just landed the showbiz equivalent of Monica Lewinsky's dress making contact with Bret Favre's penis.

The reaction to the comments has been swift. It's also been divided, with one camp warning "Watch yourself, Jared Leto!" While others are saying, "Seriously, who gives a flying turd what any of these people have to say? Anyone who spends more than two seconds thinking about this an F'ing idiot."
