On Saturday, 18-year-old Texan Karlie Hay was named Miss Teen USA and immediately found herself embroiled in controversy. Cyber-sleuths found that in the past, she frequently, and casually, used the n-word—but she's not the only thing a little off about this beauty pageant. As lovable supermodel Chrissy Teigen noticed, the five top-ranked contestants all could be clones:
Yup, those are five blonde, blue-eyed young women. (Some of them might have technically grey or green eyes, if you look really, really closely.) Of course, there's nothing wrong with that, as Teigen points out.
It's fiiiiiine. Not their fault. I'm sure they are delightful women. Just funny. I'm not gonna write a think-piece on a damn pageant.— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) July 31, 2016
That must be reassuring for Karlie Hay and the other contestants, most of whom are probably also named Karlie.
