A kid accidentally ate part of his dad's birthday cake, so he taped this note to the top of the box.
What a thoughtful son.
We've all been there before: you see a mystery cake in the fridge, stick a fork in it, and go to town, only to discover that it was purchased for your dad's birthday and now you're the jerk.
No? You've never done that? Well, redditor Art_Van_Delay has, and I don't blame him.
There was no way to know this was a birthday cake for his dad and not just a fridge cake for snacking. It's not shaped like a birthday cake, it doesn't say "Happy birthday" on it, and it's pretty hard to remember just when dad's birthday is anyway.
Art_Van_Delay tried to turn his mistake into a charming "poison testing" joke, but the right thing to do would, of course, have been to eat the entire cake, throw away the plastic box in the neighbor's trash, and never, ever admit anything.
