Sarah Silverman, prominent Bernie supporter, goes off-script with a message for 'Bernie or Bust' voters.
Comedian Sarah Silverman was one of Bernie Sanders' most outspoken celebrity supporters during the 2016 Democratic primary, but on July 25 she addressed the Democratic National Convention, and had a blunt statement to Sanders supporters who intended to boycott Hillary Clinton.
This news-making message actually came during an unexpected moment: after Silverman's prepared remarks, she and Al Franken were forced to "stretch for time" until Paul Simon could come out. Silverman took the opportunity to address the vocal pro-Bernie hecklers in the crowd.
"Can I just say," Silverman said, as the crowd started up competing chants of Hillary and Bernie, "to the Bernie or Bust people: you're being ridiculous."
