This presented a moral dilemma for authorities as they stared down at the man, flailing at the bottom of the gorge begging for help. They wondered, in saving such a man and allowing him to continue along the horribly misguided path he's chosen, wouldn't they be doing him more harm than good? If someone is determined to hurt themselves with irredeemable top-40 aural abuse, isn't it right to put him out of his misery in the comfort of a nice, quiet hole in the ground? This is why our public sector employees need to be well-compensated. Everyone talks about the physical danger they face, but far more perilous are the moral conundrums with which they must grapple when they find a drunk guy lying in the bottom of a giant pit slurring the words to "Gotta Be Somebody."
