Bork! Bork! Bork!
Today I'll be focusing my razor sharp binge-watching-Columbo-on-Netflix eye on this video of a Swedish bachelor party posted this morning to Reddit by user Zodiacinvestigat0r.
In this video we see Tommy, a manda (man dressed as panda), spinning himself around on a stick, grabbing a live chicken, running through a fire, noticing his leg is engulfed in flames, throwing the chicken to safety, and then jumping into a lake. This could all have happened organically, but before I assume that this is a legit vid and not just some staged prank to get e-fame, I just have a few loose ends I'd like to tie up.
1: Do Swedish people have bachelor parties? A quick google search tells us yes. In fact, this video is tame compared to the Swedish guy who impregnated four women during a bachelor party. So, yes, this was a real bachelor party.
2: Do the Swedes have a good enough sense of humor to pull off a video fake? Not really. A quick search for the Swedish sense of humor led me to this list of their "famous" April Fool's day pranks. Only one of them was funny, and that was 50 years ago. Geographically, the Swedes are not funny enough to have done this on purpose.
All of this, of course, points to the conclusion that this is an honestly funny video and not a fake.
Although... there is just one more thing.
3: In the video, the man catches fire, throws the chicken, and then jumps into the lake. He catches fire, throws the chicken, jumps in the lake. We know that's what happens because a man was videotaping the whole thing. But why, when his friend was on fire, would the cameraman continue to film the chicken as it flies through the air instead of keeping the camera trained on his friend? Why not watch to make sure his friend was ok? It's possible that the man behind the camera cared more about the chicken than his stupid friend in a panda suit -- It's possible -- but, more likely, the cameraman knew this was a fake. They planned for the friend to catch fire. They planned for the friend to be ok by jumping in the lake. And they planned to throw that chicken. Yes sir, the cameraman anticipated that chicken. He knew that would be the funniest moment of the video and that he could have plenty of time to film it before checking on his friend.
