Commenter tells history podcast they talk about women too much, gets a spectacular, fact-filled shut down.
The podcast Stuff You Missed in History Class covers a wide variety of topics, from shipwrecks to mental illness to other, fascinating history topics your high school teacher probably glossed over. But for some listeners, they can't help but feel like the conversation is dominated by the scariest subject of all—women. Hosts Tracy V. Wilson and Holly Frey took to the Stuff You Missed in History Class blog, where Wilson decided to address the claim that the podcast is too "women focused." She posted the following message, which came through her inbox from a listener.
About a year ago a listener commented that your podcasts had become mostly about women. I was a relatively new listener and hadn’t noticed a bias. After now listening intently for the past 12 months I’m tending to agree.
Perhaps you could rename [the] podcast, stuff you missed in history class mostly about women.
Hell hath no fury like a woman being condescendingly told her podcast should be renamed. Wilson decided to shut down this conversation about gender bias by using the most dangerous weapon at a podcaster's disposal: cold hard facts.
