The South Yorkshire Pet Ambulance, an animal rescue organization in the UK, has gone viral with their story of a sweet older dog who was abandoned in the cruelest way. Animal lovers around the world are sending messages of support after reading the SYPA's Facebook posts about 12-year-old Tessa. The first post was on Saturday, when rescue workers discovered her abandoned in a field. As you can see, they didn't mince any words in describing what they saw.

Some scumbag as dumped this dog - behind a bush at Oldcoates car boot. We arrived here at 5 am this morning to find him tied up and laying on a wet bed. Not chipped and obviously in need of a home.

Tessa was found next to bags containing all of her stuff—bowls, food, etc. She was lying on a wet blanket.

Despite her miserable circumstances, she didn't shy away from the strangers who had come to rescue her.

On Sunday, the SYPA shared something else they had found with Tessa: a note from the person who abandoned her, explaining why. Needless to say, it wasn't a very good explanation.

Update on abandon dog at Oldcoates Car Boot. Re 5am Sunday 23rd Apr 17 On inspection of the carrier bag containing dog...

The note reads:

The dog (Tessa) is 12 year old
(Tessa) is not my dog my neighour [sic] told me that Tessa is chipped
My neighour asked me if I would take charge of Tessa. As my neighour has pland [sic] herself a new life in (Canada) reluctantly I said yes (but) I did know I will not keep Tessa.
Tessa likes tea coffee & watered milk
Tessa's first meal is close to 11:30AM
My neighour has now gone to (Canada)
My neighour was happy thinking that Tessa is in good hand.
Sorry for the above
But I don't need a dog

On inspection of the carrier bag containing dog food, we found a note.and if the note is true then Shame on the woman who went to live in Canada (personally I think it's a Lie)
And Shame on the bloke who tied up and dumped an elderly dog in a field with the expectations of someone finding her.
I'm too polite to put in words what I really think.
Anyway Tessa ! had some warm rice pudding for her breakfast, and chicken for dinner.
We are going to take her to Netherlands Kennels on Kilnhurst Road, Rotherham for rehoming - and hopefully it will be a happy ending when is gets a forever home.

If you're a dog lover, your blood is probably boiling right now. But don't worry, because the internet came through. As the posts about Tessa went viral on Facebook, tons of people from the Yorkshire area started reaching out to the SYPA to ask how they could adopt her. The organization was quickly overwhelmed—meanwhile, they still had to wait for her to be cleared by a vet before they could even think about rehoming her. But as of Tuesday, that process has begun. And from the SYPA's latest update, it looks like Tessa will not only have a happy ending, but may even get some justice.

Update Tessa (Abandoned dog at Oldcoates)
Tuesday 25th Apr 17
Tessa will be up for adoption by the weekend. She is presently at Dogs Trust in Leeds. So please contact them and let us know if you are successful in giving her the home she deserves.

As for the Scumbag who dumped her - we now know who he is, and have ruled out any wrong doing of the original owner who as gone to the States to live.
Thank You so much for everyone's concern and offers of help.

Sorry we wasn't able to contact everyone

Regards Alan Webster.

Congratulations to Tessa and her future family. Let's hope they make many happy memories together while the guy who abandoned her is picking up poop on the side of the highway.
