One defining thing about twins is that they have the same birthday (unless they're born around midnight, maybe, but let's not nitpick). That's not the only rule, but it's the only one that matters to two little girls named Jia and Zuri, who think they're twins just because they have the same birthday. One slight hitch—they're not actually related. But that can't stop them from being twins, dammit!
Twitter user @vickto_willy tweeted a picture of the two girls at their joint birthday party (you know, because they're twins and all), along with a screengrab of a text conversation. The text conversation reads,
Jia just had a full on argument with two "fisher island school girls" that she and Zuri are twins. She cried because the little girl said "there is no way you don't have the same color skin." She said, "you don't know anything, we are twins because we have the same birthday."
It would probably break their little hearts to explain to them that twins have to have the same parents as well as the same birthday, so they should probably go on believing this until they're a little older. It's not hurting anybody, right? Twins!
The tweet has gone viral, with almost 8,000 retweets in two days. Clearly the picture of the two little girls with different skin colors has captured the heart of Twitter, who responded with enthusiastic agreement. They're twins!
Of course, the truth is, twins are not always necessarily the same color anyway.
They do, however, have to have the same biological parents. But no one break that to Jia and Zuri for a couple of years, at least. Best friends, sisters, twins, it doesn't matter—they love each other. And remember, they have the same birthday. So.
