See, this is why media uses words like "allegedly" and "reportedly" in stories covering information not yet proven to be true. According to TMZ, Johnny Depp's assistant Stephen Deuters claims the texts Entertainment Tonight released yesterday—the ones that were supposedly exchanged between Amber Heard and himself—weren't real. He says he never saw Depp attack Heard at all. So that's…good? For Depp, anyway. Who knows. These poor people.
Deuters told TMZ that A) he never talked about Depp abusing Heard, because B) he has no knowledge of Depp abusing Heard, or anyone, ever. He added that he finds the texts suspicious because they don't show a date. He'll testify under oath that he never had any conversation about violence with Heard.
More details are sure to come out, some of it true and a great deal of it false, from both parties. There are publicists whose entire careers are centered on making other people look bad. It's probably not a bad idea to take X-Files' Agent Fox Mulder's advice and trust no one.
