Last evening during the Golden Globes, America Ferrera got back at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association with a little help from Eva Longoria.
In early December when the Golden Globes nominations were announced, America Ferrera was on hand to reveal the list of potential award winners. One of those names included Gina Rodriguez, who was nominated for Best Actress for her work in Jane the Virgin. The Golden Globes Twitter account celebrated this nom with a shout-out to Rodriguez.
Except for they mixed-up Ferrera and Rodriguez, who eventually lost out on the award to Rachel Bloom in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. While the tweet exists only now in screenshots and the HFPA apologized, Ferrera and Longoria brought attention back to it and the casual racism it exemplified.
People loved their sly shade.
For the record: Eva Mendes wasn't in Desperate Housewives, America Ferrera does not play a person named Jane on a CW show, and Charo was amazing on The Surreal Life. Anyone who thinks otherwise should watch more TV.
