According to legal documents filed in the custody battle with his ex-wife Paula Patton, singer Robin Thicke has been accused of child abuse.
The papers, which Page Six says were seen by TMZ, allege that the couple's 6-year-old son, Julian, told teachers that Robin Thicke "spanked" and "punched" him on several occasions, and that the school reported the child's comments to Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services earlier this month.
Paula Patton allegedly stopped Thicke from seeing their son and told him, "Julian is scared of you." TMZ also claims that Patton filed an emergency restraining order that only allowed Thicke to see Julian during daytime supervised visits.
Robin Thicke pushed back against the accusations of child abuse, saying that he and Paula Patton agreed on punishment for their son that was "consistent with the law."
“On a very rare occasion and only as a last resort, I will use light spanking, but it is consistent with the law – open hand on the butt. This is the type of discipline to which Paula and I agreed during our marriage,” Thicke said. “I have never exceeded age-appropriate discipline, and thus never been an issue, nor has it been raised by Paula previously.”
Thicke claims that Patton's allegations against him were in retaliation for not being invited to his father Alan Thicke's funeral last month.
