Selena Gomez has survived the unthinkable and lived to tell the tale. During a recent hiatus from making music, the pop singer has revealed that she also went 90 days without the one thing most of us could never even imagine giving up: her cellphone. 90 DAYS. NO PHONE. Can you fathom it? Do you need to lie down?
Now back in the public eye, Gomez did an interview with Thrive Global this week, where she shared about what she learned during her 90 day detox. "I recently took 90 days off. During that time I did not have my cellphone," she explained. "It was the most refreshing, calming, rejuvenating feeling. Now I rarely pick up my phone, and only limited people have access to me."
The 24-year-old singer also said she's making an effort to be more mindful and spiritual in her daily life. She outlined her morning routine: "drink water, stretch and take a deep breath," and said she uses "self-affirmations in cooking or napping" to stay busy throughout the day.
Back in August, Gomez announced she would be taking a break from making music to focus on her physical and emotional health, and specifically to deal with side effects of lupus. She resurfaced at the AMA's last month, where she opened up about her decision to take a break. "I had to stop because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside," she said tearfully, while accepting her first AMA. "I'm not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore."
