Mara Wilson left show business in the late '90s, but she has a lifetime's worth of good stories. The 29-year-old former child star appeared on the UK-broadcast TV show Lorraine via video call this morning to promote her new book, Where Am I Now? and she opened up about her decision to leave show business and the pressures of childhood fame. She also shared a very sweet, and heartbreaking, story about her Matilda co-star, Danny DeVito, who did something very sweet for Mara's mother, who was dying of cancer while the movie was still shooting. "I never knew this but he took the film, as it was almost completed, and showed it to my mother when she was in the hospital so she could get a chance to see it," said Wilson on Lorraine. "That was very heartening because she really loved it, she really loved the book, she used to read the book out loud to children at my brother's school and that's when I fell in love with the book."

She continued: "My heart was warmed as she was involved until the very end."

Mara Wilson is awesome. And, apparently, Danny DeVito is, too. I always had a good feeling about that guy.
