We watch TV/movies to escape reality. So even if the plot may not be realistic, the best shows and films are able to convince us that the characters are real people. This is why it's so frustrating when characters do (or don't do) small things that real people rarely or never do. It takes the viewers out of the scene, and suddenly we're back on our couch in the middle of a pandemic instead of in a magical world where superheroes exist, dogs talk, or people who work in retail can afford a one-bedroom in downtown Manhattan. Booooo!
"What are small things that characters do or don't do in movies & TV shows that bother you?" she wrote, adding her own qualm: "I am insanely bothered when a character is driving and they take their eyes off the road to talk to the passenger. It stresses me out." SAME.
