For those of us who have been waiting impatiently for a full-length follow-up to pop diva Katy Perry's Prism, released more than three years ago, the past few days have been very promising. Apparently, now that the Olympics and the presidential election are in the rearview, Perry has had time to get back to the studio and work on new songs—snippets of which she posted to Instagram.
The first clip—in which Perry smiles to reveal that she colored in one of her teeth with a permanent marker—includes a bouncy rhythm and Perry's vocals, with the lyrics being something along the lines of "Don't be scared to die."
The second video shows a bass guitar being played along with a sultry sax solo and washes of 80s-style electronica. Definitely feels like mood music.
As yet, there's no official release date for Perry's upcoming fifth album, and she's said that she's "not rushing" the record, which also promises to be somewhat experimental. Nonetheless, you can likely count on it being catchy as heck.
