My expected familial patterns include growing old in New England but resenting it, being ruled by Catholic guilt until you die, and having hair that reacts tragically to humidity. But wouldn't it be cool if your family tradition was something a bit more fun, like being expected to troll the Trump administration on SNL? Billy Baldwin, brother of Alec Baldwin, hopes to follow in his brother's footsteps and do exactly that, EW reports.
"I’ll play, like, Eric Trump. I’ve got the slicked-back hair," he said during an appearance on Access Hollywood. "I’m a little old for that, but yeah." And while Baldwin is mostly joking, it actually sounds pretty funny. Billy went on to say that Eric would be a good role for him, "because I just have to sit there and go, ‘Duh.'"
In the interview, Billy reveals that he was actually the one to plant the idea of playing Trump on SNL in Alec's head, back in early 2016. When the idea came to him, he texted his older brother and told him, "you should get on your hands and knees and crawl into Lorne’s office and beg him to play Trump on SNL." No crawling was required, but that Fall Alec joined SNL for numerous episodes as Donald Trump. And while it probably brings Billy some smug joy to know he birthed the impression that keeps our president up every Saturday night, hate-watching but unable to look away, feverishly publishing his insecurities on Twitter, not everyone in their family feels that way. Their brother Stephen is...a Trump supporter. "I just wonder if he’s having buyer’s remorse now," said Billy of Stephen. How is anyone NOT?? Well, there's always one black sheep in the family.
