James Corden's Carpool Karaoke isn't just a success: it seems quite literally inescapable. Each edition of the segment is a near guaranteed viral hit. Corden, who only began his gig as host of The Late Late Show just over a year ago, is just as taken aback by this unstoppable monster that he's created, admitting such in a recent interview with Time Out.
Crazy, right? As of today, we have the top two highest viewed online clips in the history of late-night television. Ever.
Ridiculous considering a year ago…Well, I didn't exist! I still don’t in the eyes of most people.
Not since [the BBC sitcom] Gavin & Stacey ;have I been so aware that I'm doing something that's absolutely in the zeitgeist.
Carpool Karaoke is a thing. Even Kim Kardashian posted a video the other day saying she was in a car with Lil' Kim about to Carpool Karaoke.
Despite the reach of this vehicle-set phenomenon and the impressive roster of guests it's featured (Stevie Wonder, Gwen Stefani, Elton John, George Clooney, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Sia, Adele, etc.), Corden still has a few White Whales he's yet to harpoon and force into a car to sing at him.
Who are they? The answers might be pretty obvious.
Here, take a moment to stare at this Thinking Gif and ponder just who he might be talking about.
Did the Thinking Gif help?
If you guessed Beyonce or Bruno Mars, the Thinking Gif worked, because you are correct.
In Corden's own words:
Beyonce! Bruno Mars!
There you have it.
According to Time Out, videos from his show have racked up over a billion views online in the year it's been on the air. If that number doesn't allure Bruno or Beyonce to come on his show, maybe they need a few hours with the Thinking Gif to reconsider how wonderful an opportunity Carpool Karaoke would be for them.
