I'm sorry, are my eyes deceiving me, or did this young man just flip Alex Trebek the ol' bird like it ain't no thang?

I'm not making this up right? That Stanford boy's hands were clearly in the middle finger formation for the entirety of whatever story he was telling about the physics of folding pizza, yes? Okay, next question: why would he do such a thing?? The obvious answer is that the contestant in question, Viraj Mehta, was dared to do it, probably by one of his Stanford "friends." Maybe he was losing badly, or maybe he just has a penchant for sticking it to the man in really circuitous ways. (I mean if you care enough to take Jeopardy's written test and audition to go on College Championship jeopardy, can you really dislike the show that much?)

Whatever the story is, last night Mehta fully gave the audience, Trebek, and the camera a full-on middle finger fest on prime time network television Wednesday night, according to The Mercury News. Trebek didn't seem to audibly react on camera, but maybe that's because this was far from his first rodeo. He's gotten trolled by contestants before, like in 2015 when contestant Talia Lavin tricked him into saying "Turd Ferguson." But that one feels a bit more like fun for the whole family. This one was just weird. It reminded me of back in middle school when everyone learned those "cool" ways to subtlely and artfully give their friends the middle finger. I'd almost prefer to receive a "talk to the hand." And now for my last burning question on the big event: Young man, what would your mother say?
