Betsey DeVos, Donald Trump's pick for Education Secretary, is getting a ton of attention for the things she said (and didn't say) at her Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday. Though Democrats and Republicans battled it out about spending, expansion and privatization, people on both sides of the coin pretty much agree that the weirdest thing the Michigan billionaire said during the hearing was that guns should be allowed in some schools just in case there is a grizzly bear attack.
Well, needless to say, late night television show hosts had a field day with Devos's bizarre bear comments, and couldn't resist poking fun at the controversial conservative.
James Corden of The Late Late Show joked that DeVos might think that the "right to bear arms" has something to do with actual bears. He also suggested that a much safer way to prevent a bear attack on students would simply be just to lock the door.
Jimmy Kimmel brought up a good point when he said that maybe dealing with the bears is more in Sarah Palin's wheelhouse.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert even did a sketch of what actually went down when a grizzly entered the school DeVos referenced, Wapati Grade School, in Wyoming.
Seriously, the jokes just write themselves at this point.
