If Jimmy Kimmel wants to top the Film Independent Spirit Awards at tonight's Oscars, he's going to have to outdo that show's hosts, comedians Nick Kroll and John Mulaney, stars of the breakout Broadway hit Oh, Hello.
And that's a pretty tall order. In a tag-team monologue on Saturday night, Kroll and Mulaney savaged Steve Bannon ("he looks like if Nick Offerman drowned") and Donald Trump (who they said was less likable than fellow New York real estate scion Robert Durst, currently facing trial for murder). They also admitted to getting a little high before the show and mocked the practice of cutaways in order to annoy Ava DuVernay and mock Warren Beatty.
And they even had something to say about the "liberal bubble" that conservatives accuse them of living in—which, as they explained, is more of a tent.
As if that wasn't good enough, Moonlight swept the awards themselves, whereas it'll probably get robbed at the Oscars. So let's just say these wins count more.
