These days, parents tend to take more precautions with their children's safety. But there was a time when "latch-key parenting" was more common, and many kids were left to their own devices to entertain themselves.
If your childhood was anything like mine, it's a miracle you're alive. Back in the '90s when I was a kid, my favorite pasttime with the neighborhood kids was to duct tape a sled to a skateboard and "sled" down the steep street by my house, while one one of us stood guard to watch for oncoming cars. And apparently I'm not the only adult whose childhood idea of "fun" was flirting with death.
