Families lie to kids for all kinds of reasons. Maybe they want to protect them. Maybe they want to cover their own asses. Or maybe they want to preserve the "magic" of Christmas. Whatever the reason, at a certain point kids are bound to find out the truth. And depending on the size and nature of the lie, they may or may not be discussing it in therapy many years later.
