Fun, romantic dates aren't off the table just because you're on a budget. Take it from this thrifty Columbus, Ohio couple whose ingenious plan for a romantic night out only cost them $10 a piece (plus the cost of dinner, but food can be cheap!).
Noel Pauley shared her and her husband Shane's #goodwilldatenight idea on Facebook on Friday, where it went crazy-viral:
In a post already shared over 300,000 times, Noel wrote:
Tonight's date night was hysterical. We had $10 each in Goodwill to buy each other an outfit that had to be worn out. Once we were out we had to act like it was completely normal." To top it off we made up fake names to match our outfits! We laughed so hard all night long. We now challenge all of you to take a #goodwilldatenight and have a blast with your person!!! Love, Roger and Ethel
Since her post went viral, Noel/"Ethel" has written further about the date night on her blog, where she lays out the rules:
Rule One: You each get $10 in Goodwill to shop for the other person and they have to wear what you pick.
Rule Two: Once you leave Goodwill, it’s like fight club, no one talks about it.
Rule Three: You have to pick fake names and go by them all evening.
This sounds like fun, not to mention good free advertising for Goodwill (underrated shopping destination, IMHO). Or, if you live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, it sounds like a regular day. Now go forth, frugal lovers, and try out this "quirky" date yourselves. Let's make Zooey Deschanel proud!
