Jade Smith, a 29-year-old mother of two from Bristol, UK, recently found herself gagging in horror at an unidentified biological object she discovered in a container of tomato juice purchased at an Aldi supermarket. She described opening the juice to The Bristol Post:
I opened it and it didn't feel right, so for some reason I decided to open the actual container. When I shook it, it felt like there was something hard in there. A quarter of the juice had gone, I poured the rest of the juice out and it was like really thin squash. When I got to the bottom I found this vile object. I looked at it and took it out because I could just not believe it. When I looked at it further it looked like a foetus, like it's got an eye and two little legs, it's just awful.
After trying and failing to get a decent response from Aldi's customer service, Smith took her complaint to Facebook. She wrote a post that quickly went viral, because everyone on the internet loves being grossed out. And of course, she included photos.
Smith's post begins:
So I purchased some Aldi tomato Juice Dec 2016.To enjoy a bloody Mary over the Christmas hols. But a bloody marry was not on the cards after opening the carton it felt heavier than usual don't know why I felt the need to cut the carton open but I'm sure glad I did.
Lurking at the bottom was this vile object
I immediately took it back to my local store filled in a customer complaints form and they sent it off I appreciate it was week before Xmas and this was a busy period.
Warning: These images are gross af.
As Smith's post explains, Aldi was less than helpful (especially considering they had sold her tomato juice with a xenomorph in it). It took her a long time to even get a response. When she finally did, both the explanation and the compensation were woefully inadequate.
However I was not contacted once.
I rang customers services to see what would happen next. THEY SAID THEY WILL SEND IT OFF TO QUALITY ASSRANCE TEAM THIS CAN TAKE 6 8 WEEKS . Still not really happy about the way they delt with this .
Today I received £10 gift voucher.
AND A letter basically saying it's mold.
Still confused as it was as solid item and large I must say I haven't experienced any thing like this before.
But I'm not entirely happy with the outcome?
Please can I have your opinions on this matter.?
I have held back from putting it on social media for this long as I wanted to get to the bottom of it. But a ten pounds voucher and a crap letter.?
Will £10 and a snide letter cure the trauma suffered by Jade Smith? Will they undo the fact that she'll never be able to enjoy a Blood Mary again? The people demand justice!
