On Memorial Day, we remember those American soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice, and those who survived war but have since passed away. Veterans Day, however, is for the living—and you don't get more alive than Jack Sloan's grandpa.

As Sloan explained on Twitter, his grandfather, a Vietnam vet, did some homework and found out which restaurants in the area that were offering a free meal to veterans for the holiday. Then he stopped by each and every one to collect his feast.

That right there? That's America. We couldn't be prouder. And lest you think this was an easy feat, Sloan pointed out that his grandpa had to make significant preparations.

The only thing more patriotic than honoring our military service members is a strong work ethic. Oh, and free food.
