A baby who doesn't like Santa can cry, scream, kick, cry louder, or sink its teeth so deep in Santa's arm that his parents make sure he never has to see him again. But a sassy baby who knows sign language? That baby has an another option.
"We taught our baby sign language," wrote a mom who may have known she was about to have the most viral baby tweet of 2017. "This is the sign for 'help.'"
Thank you, Kerry Spencer. And thank you for putting your baby through that and sharing his pain with thousands of strangers on the internet.
According to Mashable, Spencer explained to them why some might not recognize the baby's hand positioning as official sign language.
"It's [American Sign Language] baby sign, so he is slightly 'mispronouncing' the word," she explained. "But it is the sign he always made when he needed help."
No matter how much you dispute the accuracy of the sign, you cannot dispute the visceral discomfort in that baby's face.
Apparently, Spencer posts the photo to Facebook every year. This year, she decided to share it with the broader world on Twitter, and her now 13-year-old son would like to claim some of the viral fame.
Give him a follow and maybe he'll have a restful night without nightmares of Santa, for once.
