14 subtle gender double standards that often go unnoticed.

We all know about the gender pay gap and the way some genders are expected to be more "emotional" than others. But what about the smaller, subtler double standards that people don't talk about as much?

1. This sounds infuriating.

I was a single dad for a few years. I can’t count how many times I was out doing normal things with my daughter and people complimented me for “babysitting”.

Or the worst - clothing shopping with her. Several times store employers told me I was not allowed into a changing room with her. She was 6 at the time. She’s not going into a changing room alone. - 02Kc301

Handshakes for men; hugs for women. I don’t want a hug. - Tacotacotaco666
