In the U.S., St. Patrick's Day celebrations are a mix of genuine Irish appreciation and wild stereotypes.

In order to separate fact from fiction, a Reddit thread asked actual Irish people to weigh in and share how they feel about the way the rest of the world celebrates St. Patrick's Day, and how they feel about it. Many also shared how they celebrate.

Oh, and no one in Ireland eats corned beef and cabbage!

1. You can't go wrong with parades.

We have parades and we drink a lot.. way too much..

Last year I was in the city, but the pubs were very busy..

There's rugby on this years one so it's going to be extra messy, I shall be staying at home...

I am glad people have fun. - NinjaDiscoJesus

2. "Craic" = fun.

Gotta love the drink and craic, being drunk and signing traditional Irish music is one of the best feelings ever. Tomorrow I'll probably be singing these:

Wild Rover

Whiskey In The Jar

Rocky Road To Dublin

Irish Rover - Irish-Insanity
