If you have an interesting job, chances are your friends and family will try to get you to do it for them for free. And wedding planning is one of those jobs.
An event planner is asking for advice after her sister requested that she plan the sister's Zoom nuptials free of charge. The bride is peeved that her sister wants payment, and the planner herself is annoyed that the bride thought free wedding planning was an option. She's taken to Reddit for advice.
I’m a full time event planner and my sister asked me to plan her wedding which will be conducted over Zoom.
Initially I was excited. I had some pretty great ideas up my sleeve - virtual online wedding gifts for the guests, inviting a musician to join us in our call to play their music live etc.
I did some calculations and showed my sister the final price she had to pay me. My sister said she was surprised and she thought I would do it for free since we’re sisters and all.
I told her that planning a wedding is not cheap and that she had to be fair to me. I told her I would give her a discount on account of our relation but I would not plan her wedding for free, and if she didn’t agree to pay me then I would not plan her wedding.
