In the age of Instagram, "pics or it didn't happen!" is a common catchphrase. We rely on pictures not just to project our public personas on social media, but also to have as keepsakes to help hold onto memories. A woman who is sentimental about having photos is dating a guy who truly hates posing for pictures, and she's worried about how it impacts their relationship.

She posted on "Am I The A**hole?":

So my (21F) boyfriend (20M) is picture shy and hates having his photo taken. I however love having pics of him… of us, because I love him obviously but also because we are in a long distance relationship. I only get to see him for about a week a few times a year because of school. I don’t ask often for pics, Maybe only on special occasions and once every few visits (I get maybe 3 pics of us a year, the rest are all candid pics). Even though he doesn’t to like having his pic taken, he likes having the pics of us and always saves them. But I’m worried that maybe I am being a bad girlfriend.

He has expressed how he doesn’t like having his picture taken and it makes him uncomfortable, but when I ask he says it’s fine on occasion. So I try not to ask often, but It also means a lot to me to have those pics especially when we are apart. I’m a lot more emotional about the distance than he is, and while I’m not dependent on him, having pics of him I can look at when I miss him is important for coping with the distance.
