Life can change on a dime. There are incidents, accidents, and health emergencies that can take your day from one direction to another extremely quickly. People shared stories of moments in their lives that escalated very dramatically very hastily when a Reddit user asked, "in which moments of your life did 'shit go from zero to 100 really f*cking quick?'" Here are the most interesting answers, presented without profanity. It gets dark.
Happily (and militantly) single for about ten years after messy divorce from toxic spouse. Focussing on kids, own mental health, had decided a year or two earlier that I was content to be single for the rest of my life. Very liberating. One night while I was vacuuming in preparation for quarterly house inspection I got a phone call. Brother's good mate (though initially I thought it was a telemarketer). I asked if he was looking for my brother (because why else would he call me?). No, he wanted to talk to me. Huh? Had called to confess that he'd had feelings for me for years.
-"Um... whut? Are you taking the piss?"
-"No, why would anyone do that?"
-"Because people are generally a**holes."
-"Well I agree in principle but no, in this case I'm being genuine."
-"But... I'm socially inept and fart lots, talk too much, am a giant nerd and I wear socks to bed"
