Making decisions is scary. For example, I agonized over what adjective to use in that sentence before settling on "scary."

As we get older, our lives become defined by the decisions that we make. A Reddit thread had people zooming out to view the big picture of their lives when it asked, "What was the best decision you have ever made that changed your life permanently?"

These defining decisions cover everything from careers to dog adoption and of course, to partners. In the wise words of Roy Kent, "don't you dare settle for fine."

1. From kaeorin:

Emailing my (graduated) high school crush to tell him that I'd had a dream about hanging out with him.

Now we're married.

2. From Ok_Ad8609:

Divorcing my first husband, who I (very stupidly) married when I was 20. Lasted less than 2 years, but he and his horrible family were heavily pressuring me to stop considering grad school in favor of having a kid, being a “full-time mom,” and moving to Shi*town, Arkansas so he could be a teacher at the same school where his parents both taught.
