It's the Norman Rockwell-esque, fantasy of the American Dream: marry your high school sweetheart, move around the corner from your childhood home to a new house with a white picket fence, have 2.5 children, introduce them to their high school sweetheart...dry, rinse, repeat.

Many women are living the fantasy, in that they married their prom date, but life is way more complicated than a 2D painting. A Reddit thread asked, "Women who married their high school SO/partner, how has it impacted you?" and the answers paint a more nuanced picture.

1. From Summer_Ontario:

I met my husband when I was 12 and we started dating at 15, or around there, we got married when I was 20 and out of college. I'm now 32 and still married to him.

We've had big fights where we "broke up" for a week or two but we've always found ourselves back together. Things that would make other couples divorce have made us closer.
