While many teachers start out the day with attendance or a hardy lecture to show students who's the boss, Charlotte, North Carolina fifth-grade teacher Barry White Jr. has a fun way to start the day off feeling connected.
Mr. White welcomes his students with a personalized handshake, with impressive choreography from dabbing to saluting.
"The most critical component is the relationship, the rapport you build with your students because sometimes it can go underrated or overlooked," Mr. White told NBC Charlotte, "Before I'm able to deliver a substantial amount of content to them, they have to invest in the teacher."

Mr. White got the idea when he noticed that Lebron James has special handshakes with his teammates, and team spirit is important in a class room.
One of Mr. White's students, Denise Hart, says, "That's how he hypes our day up."
