Sex education is a very useful tool that helps students learn the truth about sex and sexual health so that they can grow up to have healthy and mature sex lives. Sike! Pretty much no one I've ever met learned anything useful in sex ed—in fact, in many cases, it only made us dumber. Maybe that's changed in the years (okay fine, decades) since I was in school. But back in the '90s when I "learned" about "sex" in middle school, it was basically the teacher awkwardly explaining to the girls how tampons worked and then telling us to "wait" until sex, while we all squirmed and giggled and counted down the minutes until lunch. Also bananas would never be the same. Apparently I wasn't the only person whose sex education was awkward, flawed, and full of disasters.
