You've probably heard of body-shaming and fat-shaming, but do you know about makeup-shaming? It's a thing, and if you are someone who has ever rocked a bold lip or winged eyeliner, you might have been subjected to it. From telling people they look "soooo much better without all that makeup" to jokingly saying you "can't trust a girl with too much makeup," it would seem that some people really have unwarranted opinions on other people's faces.
Tip? Not your face = not your business.
A waitress from Southern Indiana is going viral because two teens she was serving refused to tip her, leaving her a rude message about her makeup instead. The waitress, who appropriately goes by 'WingedandContoured' on Instagram, uploaded a picture of the receipt side-by-side with a picture of her made-up face. Under the tip on the bill, the teens wrote "Here's a tip: contour is supposed to BLEND."
"When people try to hurt your feelings over your makeup, good thing I know my #makeup was #flawless today? ," wrote the waitress on Instagram. Under the picture of her face, she wrote "Didn't phase me ?."
Then she delved into the story:
Story: two girls around 16 years old came in and I was their waitress. I took great care of them and everything was great until I dropped the check off. When I returned to pick it up, they demanded to speak to a manager because they "didn't have enough money" and I "didn't tell them exactly how much their food was going to cost them" even though they had the menus for a good 20 minutes before they decided what they wanted. Long story short my manager would not discount their food because they shouldn't have ordered food they couldn't pay for, and it was not my responsibility to tell them while they were ordering how much it costs after tax and everything. They "magically" had a card to put it on and this is the "tip" they left me.
According to WingedandContoured's Instagram, she is an aspiring makeup artist and completely self taught. And, according to her pics, her makeup looks like it is always on point:
Not only that, but she is also totally self aware:
And sure, a tip on a $33.00 bill wouldn't have been a ton of money, but for servers, the bulk of their income from tipping. It's really the principal of the thing, and writing a mean comment to a server is rude and unnecessary.
This particular waitress is not going to smudge her perfect eyeliner crying over it, though. We can only hope that karma will take care of these two teens by giving them streaky foundation and clumpy eyelashes for the rest of their days.
