History is important, as it provides context for, well, everything. Not everyone has an expert grasp on the subject, myself included. But at least I know I'm not the most historically intelligent human, and I don't post my opinions online without doing a little research first to make sure they're grounded in facts. Because otherwise, I'd be asking to get my dumb a** handed to me by someone who has a far better grasp on history than I do.
