Everyone's had one or two awkward Thanksgiving dinners with their family — but this guy's story has to take the cake.
A man has taken to Reddit to ask if he was in the wrong for outing his uncle at Thanksgiving dinner. The uncle is now getting a divorce from his wife, and the man's family is peeved.
I (18M) am gay, and have been out since I was 12. My uncle is extremely homophobic, and whenever he is in my presence never wastes an opportunity to tell me that I'm going to hell, etc.
My parents seem to be completely okay with this, and tells me that he's simply old and stuck in his ways, and that I need to learn to deal with it because he's family. My parents decided to invite him and his wife to our Thanksgiving dinner last week, despite my pleading with them not to do so.
