What are the rules for throwing a kids' birthday party? Do you have to provide cake and ice cream and nothing else? Or do you need to feed the guests, too?

That's what one mom is asking after an awkward situation at her child's birthday party. The party was held at McDonald's, and she wasn't planning to pay for guests' food. But her husband's grandmother insist she borrow enough money to pay for all the food — and she announced this to guests at the party. Awkward, right? She took to Reddit to find out if she'd done anything wrong.

The woman explained the general vibe of the party:

My (29, f) kids (9m, 3m) had a small joint birthday party yesterday at McDonald's. We followed mask mandates and all guidelines set in place, and all adults were vaccinated. We were originally going to have the party at our local park, but we had to change due to weather.
