Destination weddings: either you love them or you hate them.
On one hand, a destination wedding can be a giant vacation with a bunch of people you like. On the other hand, who wants to let their random step-brother and his fiancée plan their entire vacation, without paying for it?
A woman recently took to Reddit to ask if she's justified in complaining that her friends' destination weddings seem like money grabs.
I've had a few friends disclose to me why they chose to have a destination wedding and it didn't sit right with me. A few of them chose to have weddings in Mexico at all inclusive resorts that provide complimentary weddings if you have large enough room blocks.
I told them that that didn't seem fair to their guests because it's almost like expecting them to pay for the majority of their wedding, and the response was that the guests would be getting a vacation out of it too. Am I wrong in having that thought process? I got a bit of flack for that.
