<p>My previous boyfriends&#39; mothers have ranged from lovely to dead, so I never experienced conflict with them - thank God. The only thing more embarrassing than fighting over a man with a woman your age is fighting over a man with a woman twice your age who birthed said man.</p><p>Some mothers are possessive of their male children to a fault, almost like a jealous ex. Others are distant to the point that needing to &#39;mother&#39; your partner starts to make sense - and turn you off. At least a boyfriend&#39;s mom never poisoned me, accidentally or otherwise.</p><p>One woman turned to Reddit this week with <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/ckoqnp/aita_boyfriends_mother_poisoned_me_so_asked_her/">a real conundrum</a>: she ate bad berry pie her boyfriend&#39;s mother made, and when the dessert necessitated an emergency room visit, insurance wouldn&#39;t cover it. She asked the mother to cover her hospital bill and all hell broke loose.
