Some furries create whole other alter-egos, some just collect a few furry accessories (a tail, ears, etc), some attend conferences and wear their regalia during intercourse. As with any community, identifying as a furry can mean a lot of different things.

But to the outside public, the main association with being a "furry" is the subset of participants who regularly role-play and wear costumes in the bedroom.
