<p>Whoever was in charge of keeping Donald Trump away off Twitter on last night did a bad job, and the President sent out a tweet reading, &quot;School shooting survivor says he quit @CNN Town Hall after refusing scripted question.&quot; @TuckerCarlson. Just like so much CNN, Fake News. That&#39;s why their ratings are so bad! There&#39;s a lot to unpack here, starting with the fact that CNN says the whole &quot;CNN providing scripted questions to the participants&quot; thing is, in itself, not true.</p><p>Here&#39;s what happened: On Wednesday night, as you probably know, CNN held a nationally televised town hall with the parents and classmates of the victims of the tragic Parkland, Florida school shooting that had occurred one week earlier, claiming 17 lives.</p><p>Colton Haab, a junior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who helped dozens of students get to safety during the shooting, told media on Wednesday that he was invited to appear on the town hall but that when he stated that he wanted to talk about adding more armed guards to the school, CNN changed its mind. He told <a href="http://www.local10.com/news/parkland-school-shooting/cnn-refutes-parkland-school-shooting-survivors-scripted-question-claim" target="_blank">WPLG</a>,</p><blockquote> <p>CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions, and it ended up being all scripted. I don&rsquo;t think that it&rsquo;s going to get anything accomplished. CNN did not provide or script questions for anyone in last night&rsquo;s town hall, nor have we ever.&quot; The statement continued,</p><blockquote> <p>After seeing an interview with Colton Haab, we invited him to participate in our town hall along with other students and administrators from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. After the network said he couldn&#39;t read the whole speech, Colton&#39;s father, Glenn Haab, reportedly decided that his son would not be participating.</p><p>Speaking to HuffPost, Glenn Haab said that a CNN producer had told him his son&#39;s speech (which apparently had an opening statement and three questions, as well as closing remarks) was &quot;too long.&quot; In response, Glenn Haab said he told the producer that Colton wouldn&#39;t read &quot;one short question&quot; because there was other &quot;extremely relevant&quot; background information that he wanted the audience to know.</p><oembed>https://twitter.com/EdKrassen/status/966847130815160320</oembed><div className="ad-splitter"></div><p>So that&#39;s the whole story.
