A high school in Utah is investigating five white cheerleaders who appeared in a 10-second video yelling racist slurs and giggling.
Weber High School in Pleasant View is looking into the video that depicts five students shouting "f**k n****rs" into camera. The video went viral after a classmate shared it on Twitter with the caption: "I thought people were better than this especially my so called 'friends'".
Lane Findlay, a spokesman for the Weber School District, told The Huffington Post that the video was recorded a year ago during a break and off school property. Findlay also said the girls were recording themselves saying "serggin cuff," then uploaded it to an app that played the clip backward, resulting in the racist phrase.
As it stands, the girls in the video, all juniors and seniors, may face counseling, expulsion, or might get kicked off the cheerleading squad.
The school says that the matter is "being taken very seriously," and they plan on coming to a resolution early next week.
