Body-shaming is the worst. It's painful when it comes from strangers, and it's even more painful when it comes from people close to you. That's exactly what happened to Twitter user @babyyygucci, a young woman named Shelby, who sought advice from Twitter when her boyfriend turned out to be a self-centered dick.
Shelby posted a text conversation between her boyfriend and herself in which he basically says that she's getting too big, at 120 pounds, for him to be attracted to. What. A. Jerk.
Shelby claims she weighs 120 pounds, and points out that she's weighed that amount for about five months. So her weight hasn't even changed since she and the dude met two months ago. But in the Instagram photos that apparently first got him into her, she weighed 115 pounds. Big whoop. Five pounds is barely a difference. People can gain and lose that much weight in a week. (Probably. I'm no doctor.)
I also want to say, I was 120 when he met me 2 months ago.

Shelby posted a tweet about how she was proud of her body, "120 pounds of pure growth."
My journey of my body has been long. In highschool I was 80-90 and my doctors never figured out why I couldn’t keep on weight. At 20, I started gaining. When i did, I never felt happier and more healthy. I worked hard for this body. I am 120 pounds of pure growth. pic.twitter.com/vyLGUuT0fu

And Shelby did get the advice she requested from Twitter - DUMP HIM. STAT.
Dump him and buy a dog :)

I can tell you exactly how much weight you need to lose as soon as your boyfriend steps on a scale.

So, with the help of all the responses she got when the tweet when viral, and after talking to her therapist, she decided to break up with El Jerko.
I haven’t been able to see him since I posted this. With the help of my therapist today I have a plan to end things and move on. I will be seeing him tomorrow and dropping a hefty 180 pounds. The support I got is amazing. I really thought only my few twitter friends would reply!

On April 1, Shelby announced as a follow-up on Twitter that she and the guy had indeed broken up, and that he felt "like shit." He did say, however, that he'd use getting dumped for being thoughtless about someone else's emotions as a learning experience.
I want to update you guys that we are broken up. He was really unhappy and felt like shit, especially after knowing my tweet went viral. He has told me he’ll use this as a learning experience to be a better person. And here I am, single and free 😇

This tweet going viral helped him see what a jerkoff he was to me. So in actuality I’m so glad this happened. Too little too late, but hopefully losing me helped him learn. pic.twitter.com/QoEpSdjvhT

And in the end, she was happier without him. As she tweeted, "breakups suck, but losing yourself sucks more."
