We've all experienced receiving a gift that we didn't like. And some gifts are so terrible that receiving them can actually feel like an insult. But it's customary when receiving a gift, even one that you hate, to express gratitude to the gift-giver, pretend you like it, and then hide it in your closet except when they come over to visit. However, apparently not everyone got this memo about gift-receiving etiquette.
The bride describes the low-cost but seemingly well-meaning gift as a "slap in the face," twice. She wrote:
Hey everyone, has anyone received any wedding gifts in the past that were a slap in the face? How did you deal with it? My partner and I had a very exclusive wedding, all inclusive and the focus were our guests. Our best friend, husband and kids knew this and they gifted us 2 kmart towels, a total value of about $10. This hurt us a lot, as it was a slap n the face.. We don't know how to deal with it.. any suggestions?
