Death is a horrible reality we all have to face eventually through the loss of loved ones, and ultimately ourselves. While it's the source of endless anguish and grief, there are times when death itself is so absurd it circles back to funny.
At one point or another, most of us have stumbled on a headline detailing a wildly amusing cause of death, but few of us have dealt firsthand with the cognitive dissonance of loss to a silly-sounding cause.
My great grandmother, who was very hard of hearing, was hospitalized at 104 years old. All the relatives piled into her room and sat around talking. Suddenly she sat up and said, "Will you people stop yelling. You're interrupting my nap!", then fell back on the pillow dead as a doornail.
Not a relative but an old woman in the neighboring village was killed by sheep. They pushed her quad bike over a cliff while she was trying to feed them.
It made the front page of The Sun (the biggest British tabloid) - their headline was "Silenced By The Lambs".
