At first I assumed they were comparing Candy Crush scores, because who likes learning?

The kids are alright...in the dark...as long as they have hundreds of smartphones. This redditor thought he or she was going to get to leave class early yesterday when the lights went out, only to look up to see this eery scene of intellectual curiosity. Seriously, it's really cool that even in the (very hard to get into) lefty socialist welfare-state breeding ground that is UC Berkely, apparently kids today are interested enough in learning and their future that they will pass up a perfectly good opportunity to just ditch class. Who would have thought? They also show us that smartphones are actually good for doing something smart. Huh!

There was a big power outage at Berkeley yesterday, which was apparently caused by a thief stealing copper wire from under the campus. This picture was taken between the time the power went out and when everyone really was forced to evacuate because two ancient backup generators came online and one of them exploded. But still, they get an "A" for actually trying to learn. Hippies.
