Who would go to all that trouble and not even bother to type the note?
Recently, a non-customer who really needed to pee entered a Tennessee restaurant called The Flood Zone, and—rather than end up with a flood zone in her pants—used the bathroom. But the owners of The Flood Zone have a strict “customers only” policy and, in hopes of becoming the least popular restaurant in town, actually decided to enforce it. They had the sheriff track down the woman using her license plate number and sent her the letter above, demanding a $5 payment for using their restroom. Look, $5 is insanely high, considering the state of most restaurant bathrooms. And frankly, by naming your restaurant The Flood Zone, you are basically asking for people who see your sign to have a sudden urge to urinate. We think it's time the owners simply accept that restaurants provide an important public service to people who didn't need to go before they left the house.
